If you’re a skilled immigrant with Canadian working experience, this immigration pathway is just for you. The Canadian Experience Class Program (CECP) was created to help skilled workers with at least one year of work experience in the country quickly gain permanent residence.
The Canadian Experience Class Program (CECP) is one of the three pathways available in the Express Entry Program, an online application system created by the Immigration Office of the Canadian government for skilled workers. A draw is done every two weeks to select the candidates who would receive invitations-to-apply (ITAs); these ITAs allow the candidates to apply for permanent residence. This pathway has one of the highest CRS scores compared to the others, with the cut-off mark for the last draw being 462 points.
Requirements
- Have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in Canada (this experience must have been gained while working at an authorized employer)
- Have a temporary residence visa.
- Fulfill all the requirements for your occupation according to the National Occupational Classification(NOC): TEER 0
- TEER 1
- TEER 2
- TEER 3
3. Have at least a CLB 7 or NCLC 7 (if English/french is your first language) in your language proficiency test.
Refugees working without authorization or a temporary residence visa are not eligible to apply. Work experience gained while studying full-time is not acknowledged and needs to be accepted under the requirements, so be sure to include only valid work experiences.
Documents Needed To Apply
- a valid passport/ travel document
- language test results
- proof of Canadian education or an Educational Credential Assessment Report (ECA)
- provincial nomination (if you have one)
- a valid job offer from a Canadian employer (if you have one)
- proof of work experience
- proof of funds and,
- certificate of qualification in a trade occupation issued by a Canadian province or territory (if you have one)
Other documents that may be required are:
- proof of relationship to a relative in Canada
- digital photos to confirm identity
- other names to confirm aliases
Your application will not be rejected if you do not provide the documents above, but it is helpful to add them if you list them in your application checklist.
Once you have all the needed documents, you can proceed to the IRCC website to create your profile, follow the instructions, and provide the necessary documents. A period of 60 days is given for the completion of one’s application; otherwise, one would have to begin the application afresh.
