The Atlantic Immigration Program (formerly the Atlantic Immigration Pilot) is a pathway that allows skilled workers from other countries to migrate to Canada with a high possibility of obtaining permanent residence.
Skilled workers and recent graduates from a Canadian Institution of learning are granted the opportunity to work and live in either New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland and Labrador.
Eligibility For The Canadian Atlantic Immigration Program[AIP]
People who are eligible for this opportunity are people who:
- Have a qualifying work experience (unless they are international graduates from a Canadian institution)
- Meet or exceed the educational requirements (management/professional jobs require a one-year Canadian post-secondary educational credential or higher, while technical jobs or skilled trades require at least a high school diploma)
- Meet or exceed the language requirement ( a Canadian Language Benchmark- CLB 5 for management, professional, or technical jobs and a CLB 4 for intermediate/server jobs)
- Proof of funds
Some additional requirements are that you must have at least five years of working experience in your career of choice and have worked at least 1,560 hours during those times. International graduates with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in any of Canada’s 4 Atlantic provinces with over two years of study are not required to have work experience.
However, applicants who studied outside Canada need to be issued an educational credential assessment(ECA) showing that their studies are equal to or higher than the required level of education for your job offer. The ECA must be obtained 24 months before their visa application and should not be older than five years.
