Germany Student Visa – See Requirements, Application, Fees & Processing Time

Germany has one of the best educational systems in Europe, as a result, the amount of foreigners applying to study here has sky-rocketed in recent years.

Certain countries like Andorra, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, San Marino, South Korea or the USA do not need a visa when applying for a student visa in Germany. If you’re not from any of the countries mentioned above then you would need to apply for a student visa as well as a residence permit.

Before applying for a student visa you would need to find out the time of visa needed by your field of study. If you’re joining an educational program that lasts up to 3 months, you would need a Schengen visa. For studies that last more than 3 months you need a German national visa.
